Mumbai, Aug 9 (IANS) | Veteran actor Anupam Shyam, known for his roles in several television shows and films, passed away late on Sunday. He was 63 years old. The actor, recently played the role of Thakur Sajjan Singh in the show Mann Ki Pratigya 2. The actor was not healthy for the past few years and was also on dialysis.
Confirming the news, actor Manoj Joshi tweeted, “Saddened by the passing away of my friend and very talented actor Anupam Shyam ji. We have lost a great man. My deepest condolences to his family and friends. Other members of the entertainment industry also took to social media to offer condolences.
In 2020, the actor was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit and started his dialysis. Cine and TV Artists Associated had appealed for financial help on behalf of the actor. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had announced an assistance of Rs 20 lakh for the actor’s treatment. Bollywood actor Sonu Sood also came forward to help.
Anupam Shyam has got mostly negative roles in films. He has also starred in several international films, including The Little Buddha and the Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire. In this film, Anupam played the role of blinding children to begging. He was also an important part of Shekhar Kapur’s film Bandit Queen. Apart from this, he has also worked in the films The Warrior and Thread.
