Singapore has decided to ban the film ‘The Kashmir Files’ centered on Kashmiri Hindus. It has been argued that the film is provocative and shows only one side of Muslims. After the film was banned, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor taunted the name of BJP. On which the directors of this film Vivek Agnihotri and Anupam Kher clashed with him.
Shashi Tharoor shared an article related to the ban on the film on his Twitter handle and wrote, ‘Singapore has banned the film promoted by the ruling party of India.’ On this, Vivek Agnihotri retorted and wrote, ‘Dear Shashi Tharoor ji, for your information, let me tell you that the Censor Board of Singapore is famous for its reverse moves. He even banned The Last Temptations of Jesus Christ, why don’t you ask madam?’
Is it true that your wife was a Kashmiri Hindu? Vivek Agnihotri did not stop here, instead he attacked Shashi Tharoor’s late wife Sunanda Pushkar by naming her. Sharing a screenshot of an old tweet by Sunanda Pushkar, Agnihotri wrote, ‘Shashi Tharoor ji, is it true that your wife was a Kashmiri Hindu? If this is true then according to Hindu tradition you should delete your tweet and apologize to the departed soul while respecting the deceased.
Anupam Kher also got upset: On the other hand, actor Anupam Kher, who played the lead role in the film, also slammed Shashi Tharoor. He wrote, ‘Your insensitivity towards Kashmiri Pandits is painful. If nothing else, at least by remembering his late wife Sunanda, who was a Kashmiri herself, showing some sensitivity towards Kashmiri Pandits and not being happy when another country bans The Kashmir Files.
What is the whole matter? Let us tell you that Singapore has banned The Kashmir Files. Officials told ‘News Asia’ news channel that the film is provocative and creates animosity. Only one side of Muslims has been shown in the film and the alleged injustice to Hindus in Kashmir has also been wrongly exaggerated. Because of this, discrimination can arise in the society and religious hysteria may flare up.
