Yes, once Anand Bakshi got into trouble over a glass of milk and was beaten severely. It was the year 1943, when Anand Bakshi was sent by his family to study in a boarding school in Jammu.
Actually, the family members believed that if Anand Bakshi stays in boarding school then Pindi (Rawalpindi, Pakistan) he will get rid of his mischievous friends and his interest in singing and acting will also go away, because Anand Bakshi has always been fond of films. Was fond of. Anand Bakshi, who was living in a boarding school, decided to go to Bombay by train after selling books with his friends. After selling books, he reached Rawalpindi station, but his friends did not come.
When Anand Bakshi was in an unknown city, his dream of going to Bombay was also shattered. He knew that if his family members came to know about this, he would be beaten severely. Anand Bakshi had enrolled in boxing at the beginning of the year itself. This is because here the boxers used to get a glass of milk. For boxing, teachers used to teach boxing to children in a very brutal manner. Every day they would choose a child and beat him until he became unconscious.
Anand Bakshi himself had mentioned this and said – ‘Somehow I always managed to escape and my turn never came. I would cleverly keep my distance and just wear boxing gloves and somehow drink a glass of milk every day. This continued for several months and then one day his eyes fell on me. He said I have never seen you before. Come on, put on your gloves, I’ll teach you how men defend themselves. After this they beat me until I became unconscious. That was my last day of drinking free milk. This incident related to Anand Bakshi has been mentioned by his son Rakesh Bakshi in his book ‘Nagme Kisse Baatein Yaadein’.
