New Delhi, May 28 (IANS). Be careful if you like to drink soda, energy drinks, sports drinks or fruit juice. According to a study, drinking such sweet beverages may increase the risk of type 2 diabetes (diabetes).
But if sugar is in such food which is nutritious such as whole fruits, milk or whole grains, then it does not affect the body. According to scientists, such food also contains fiber, protein and other nutrients that help digest sugar gradually in the body. This causes the effect of sugar slowly and does not weigh on the body.
The study was conducted by scientists at Brigham Young University in America and was published in a journal called “Advance in Nutrition”. In this, data of half a million (more than five lakh) people was analyzed.
The results found that if a person drinks 350 ml sweet drinks (such as soft drinks, energy drinks or sports drinks) every day, then the risk of diabetes may increase by 25 percent. And if someone drinks 250 ml fruit juice (100% juice, nectar or juice drink) daily, its risk increases by 5 percent.
The principal scientist of the study, Caren Dela Corte, said that this is the first time a study states how the sugar type 2 taken from different sources increases the risk of diabetes. This highlights that your sugar – whether from soda or juice – drinking it is more problematic for health than eating it.
Researchers reported that the sugar present in sweet drinks and juices directly affect the body, causing pressure on the liver, increases fat and insulin does not function properly.
Therefore, experts believe that sweet drinks and juices should be avoided and more strict advice should be given for them, as they can damage our metabolic health.
