New Delhi, 19 June (IANS). If you want to start your day with peace and freshness, there is no better solution than yoga. When it comes to strengthening the body and increasing flexibility, Bhekasana is a great option. ‘Bhekasana’ is made up of two words, ‘Bhak’ and ‘Asan’. ‘Bhak’ means ‘frog’ and ‘Asana’ means ‘posture’, that is, the condition of the body in this asana is somewhat like a frog, hence it is called ‘Bhekasana’. For those who sit in the same place for hours, this yogasan acts like a panacea. Bhekasana not only strengthens the body, but also calms the mind.
According to the Government of India, doing Bhekasana brings flexibility in the spinal cord, which makes it easier to move and feels light.
This asana benefits the muscles of many parts of the body. Especially the lower back, biceps, triceps, abdominal muscles, legs, ankle, knee and thigh muscles are strong. By doing this asana, the muscles stretch and gradually their strength increases, which makes the body more agile and strong.
Bhekasana is considered very effective in increasing muscle strength. By doing this, there is pressure on many parts of the body, which strengthens the muscles and increases their strength gradually. Especially hands, feet, back and abdominal muscles become strong. Daily practice gives a different strength in the body.
By doing this asana, the strength of the lungs also increases and the ability to breathe. When you breathe deeply, the lungs spread well and more oxygen goes inside. This also balances the speed of breath and also provides relief from fatigue. This asana is very beneficial for those who start panting or those who complain of breathlessness.
By doing Bhekasana, the gland called the adrenal gland present inside the body becomes active, which is above our kidney. This gland works to maintain the balance of hormones in our body, especially when we are under stress. When we do Bhekasana, there is pressure on the stomach and back, which causes this gland to work more well. This directly affects our energy and mood, which makes us feel more active and fresh.
It also improves pancreatic function. When there is a mild pressure on the stomach during this posture, pancreatic activities intensifies, which keeps the level of insulin in the body better and the digestive system also works properly. Especially for people suffering from sugar, this asana can be very beneficial.
The digestive system is also much better by doing Bhekasana. This puts mild pressure on the stomach and surrounding muscles, which increases digestion. This digss the food quickly and reduces problems like gas or constipation.
At the same time, if you are thinking of losing weight, then Bhekasana is a better option for you. This asana reduces the calories of the body, which keeps weight under control.
To do Bhekasana, first of all lie down on the ground on the stomach comfortably. Now slowly bend your knees and bring the legs backwards to the head. Hold your ankles or legs with both hands. Keep in mind that the chest remains on the ground and the breath remains comfortable. In this situation, stay for a few seconds, then slowly open the feet and relax.
