Lucknow: Children of shelter center deteriorated after eating food, 2 died, District Magistrate ordered an inquiry

Lucknow, March 27 (IANS). 2 children of Nirvana Government Balgriha, located in Lucknow, capital of Uttar Pradesh, died during treatment at Lokbandhu Hospital. The children of the shelter center allegedly worsened after eating food after which they were admitted to various hospitals. A total of 25 children were brought to Lokbandhu Hospital. Of which 2 lost their lives. CMS Rajiv Dixit of Medicare and Medicade Services Center of Lokbandhu Hospital told IANS that the sick children are still admitted and their condition is stable.

In view of the seriousness of the matter, the District Magistrate of Lucknow has ordered an inquiry.

CMS said, “It is difficult to say that this happened only due to food poisoning. These children are mentally weak and cannot keep their attention. There are caretaker for them. When the children came, many were found to have blood and water lack. We all investigated and started treatment. A total of 25 children came, some of which have recovered.”

He said that the 16 -year -old girl Renu already had diabetes and came in critical condition. He died of diabetes complications. The rest of the children are slowly recovering and they are being discharged on the basis of reports.

Lucknow Chief Medical Officer (CMO) NB Singh said, “25 children were brought to us after a complaint of vomiting and diarrhea from the hostel. Some of them have returned to recover. Today seven children can be discharged. Two children died, their postmortem report will clear what was the real cause of death. How the condition of the children was deteriorated, it will be a matter of investigation.”

There is anger among family members and local people about the incident. The District Magistrate said that strict action will be taken against the culprits. Police and health department teams have started investigating the case.

Let me tell you, on Sunday (March 23), after having dinner at night, the health of the children started deteriorating. Between 23 March and 26 March, children were admitted to Lokbandhu Hospital from Bal Griha. 2 of these girls died during treatment.
