Hanoi, 14 February (IANS). Malaria cases continued to fall in Vietnam in 2024. A total of 353 cases were reported during this period, which is 21 percent less than the previous year. According to Vietnam News, the Ministry of Health gave this information.
One third of these cases came from outside. It is a matter of relief that no one died and no major infection spread. This reflects the progress made towards eliminating Vietnam’s malaria.
Hoang Dinh Kah, director of the National Institute of Malaria, said that the country has achieved significant success in eradication of malaria. 48 provinces and cities of Vietnam have been officially declared malaria -free.
Vietnam has devised a strategy to eliminate malaria, which aims to end malaria by 2030. According to the Xinhua News Agency report, to achieve this goal, Vietnam will have to ensure that there are no local malaria cases there.
According to the World Health Organization, malaria is a deadly disease, which spreads by cutting some special mosquitoes. It is usually found in countries with warm and moist climate. This disease can be stopped and cured.
Malaria is caused by a parasite and it does not spread directly from one person to another. Its symptoms can be mild and serious. Mild symptoms include fever, chills and headache, while severe symptoms may cause weakness, confusion, seizures and difficulty in breathing.
Newborn and young children younger than 5 years, pregnant women, people who are traveling in malaria -affected areas, are at greater risk of malaria people with HIV/AIDS.
To avoid malaria, it is necessary to protect against mosquito bites. Mosquito nets and medicines can be used for this. If not treated on time, light cases can be severe.
Malaria is mainly spread by the bite of an infected female anaphylaase mosquito. It can also spread by using infected blood or using contaminated needles.
Initial symptoms of infection may be difficult to identify its accurate. If the victim is not treated, malaria can take a serious form and may be fatal within 24 hours. Therefore, initial investigation is very important.
According to the World Malaria report, 26.3 crore cases of malaria were reported in 2023, while in 2022 the number was 25.2 crore. An estimated 5,97,000 deaths occurred in 2023, which was 6,00,000 in 2022.
