New Delhi: Air India flight going from Delhi to Israel’s capital Tel Aviv has been diverted to Abu Dhabi. The decision was taken after a missile attack at Tel Aviv Ben Gurian Airport. Huti rebels of Yemen attacked the missile at Ben Gurian Airport. Due to the missile attack, the smoke was seen arising and panic spread among the passengers. After this many flights had to be diverted. These include Air India flight AI139.

Flight AI139 Abu Dhabi Divert

A statement in this regard was also issued by Air India. The statement said that Air India flight AI139 from Delhi to Tel Aviv on 3 May 2025 was diverted towards Abu Dhabi after the incident at Ben Gurian Airport this morning. The flight has a normal lading in Abu Dhabi and will return to Delhi soon.

Flights suspended by 6 May

The statement decided to suspend flights going to Tel Aviv. The statement said-We will be suspended by immediate effect by 6 May 2025 to ensure the safety of our passengers and employees. Our staff on the ground is assisting customers and helping them to make alternative arrangements.

In fact, flights on Israel’s main international airport Ben Gurian were interrupted for an hour due to a missile fired by Iran -backed rebels on Sunday. Due to the missile tainted by Yemen’s Huki rebels, smoke was seen rising and panic spread among the passengers. Huti rebels are attacking Israel, showing solidarity with Palestinians during the war in Gaza.

The attack at the Ben-Gurian International Airport took place a few hours before the top Israeli cabinet ministers voted for the country’s military operations at the Gaza Strip. Officials said that in the meantime, the army has started calling thousands of reserved soldiers in view of the possibility of a comprehensive campaign in Gaza. The missiles fired by Huti rebels on Sunday led to a air strike sirens in many parts of Israel.

According to the photos broadcast by Israeli media, smoke was visible at the airport. It is seen in the pictures that passengers are screaming in panic and running to hide. Police said air, road and rail traffic were stopped after the attack. The Israeli Airport Authority said that the traffic started again after about an hour. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katj pledged to avenge the attack on the airport. He said, “Whoever hurts us, we will harm him seven times.”
