Alan Musk bid farewell to the Trump administration, 'My scheduled time is over'

Billionaire Entrepreneur and Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced on Wednesday that he was removing his advisory role in the administration of US President Donald Trump. Musk, who was leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) as Special Government Employees (Special Government Employees), informed this on his social media platform x. He wrote, “At the end of the scheduled time as my special government employee, I want to thank President @REALDONALDTRUP for giving an opportunity to reduce useless expenses. The DOGE mission will be stronger over time, as it will become a lifestyle in the government.”

Musk’s announcement came a day after Trump’s major legislative agenda of Trump, which the President has named “Big Beautiful Bill”, a day after his public criticism. In an interview to CBS News, Musk described the bill as a “huge expense bill”, saying it would increase the federal deficit and weaken the DOGE efforts. He said, “I believe a bill may be big or beautiful, but I don’t know that it may be both.”

Musk started work as a special government employee at the beginning of Trump’s second term in January, under which he was allowed to play a government role for 130 days. This period was ending by the end of May. Under the DOGE, Musk had targeted the government spending, initially a $ 2 trillion was promised, which later decreased by $ 150 billion. During this period, about 260,000 federal employees were trimmed or they were proposed for voluntary retirement.

However, Musk admitted that changing the federal bureaucracy was more complicated than his idea. “The situation of federal bureaucracy is much worse than my view,” he said. His role also affected his businesses such as Tesla and SpaceX, where incidents of protests and sabotage were seen at Tesla’s showroom.

Triping the criticism of Musk lightly, Trump said that he was not happy with some aspects of the bill, but is excited by other aspects. He indicated that further changes in the bill in the Senate could be made. On the other hand, House Speaker Mike Johnson committed to deduct the expenses based on the findings of DOGE.

Musk recently indicated that he would pay more attention to his businesses, especially Tesla and SpaceX. Along with this announcement, he has also spoken about reducing his participation in political activities.
