New Delhi. Now citizens of Bangladesh will not get entry in the hotels of Assam. This decision has been taken by the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Barak Valley of Assam in protest against the attacks and atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh. There is about 129 kilometers of border between the two countries in the Barak Valley with the Sylhet region of Bangladesh. Hotel owners say that until the atrocities on Hindu minorities in Bangladesh do not stop, they will not be provided any kind of service in their hotels.
Babul Rai, president of the Barak Valley Hotel and Restaurant Association, said the Bangladesh government should ensure the safety of Hindus living there. Until this is implemented, our protest will continue no matter how much loss we have to bear for it. Let us tell you that demonstrations are taking place at many places in India also against the attack on Hindus in Bangladesh. The Indian government has also called upon Bangladesh to ensure the safety of Hindus. India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri is also going to visit Bangladesh two days later on 9 December. There he will participate in the meeting with his Bangladesh counterpart.
It is believed that positive results will be seen from this meeting and the interim government of Bangladesh will stand in favor of Hindus. Earlier yesterday, the head of the interim government of Bangladesh, Mohammad Yunus said that propaganda is being spread regarding attacks on Hindus. After this he held a meeting with religious leaders of the minority community. Some Muslim religious leaders were also present in this meeting. Mohammad Yunus said that even though our thoughts and religions may be different, we are not enemies of each other. We are all Bangladeshi and members of one family.
