Biting cold and fog hit Delhi for the third consecutive day. Many flights and trains delayed.

Fog remained prevalent in many areas of the national capital for the third consecutive day in the morning, due to which 51 trains were delayed. Officials gave this information on Sunday.

The weather department said visibility in Palam was zero between 4 am and 7.30 am. Visibility remained zero for nine hours in Palam on Saturday. Visibility in Safdarjung reduced to 0.50 meters at 5.30 am.

Due to very dense fog at 7.30 am, normal visibility at Palam and Safdarjung airports was reduced to zero.

According to Central Pollution Control Board data, the air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 372 at 9 am, which falls in the ‘very poor’ category.

AQI is rated between zero and 50 as ‘good’, 51 and 100 as ‘satisfactory’, 101 and 200 as ‘moderate’, 201 and 300 as ‘poor’, 301 and 400 as ‘very poor’ and 401 and 400 as ‘poor’. Between 500 is considered ‘severe’.

The minimum temperature was recorded at 9.4 degrees Celsius, two degrees above normal. The humidity level was recorded at 95 percent at 8.30 am.

The Meteorological Department has predicted dense to very dense fog during the day. The maximum temperature is likely to be around 18 degrees Celsius.
