After the death of Hassan Nasrallah in Lebanon’s capital Beirut, protests were held at many places in the Kashmir Valley. The third and final phase of Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections is on October 1. It is believed that Mehbooba Mufti decided to stop the election campaign in an attempt to garner votes for PDP in the third phase by making the death of Hasan Nasrallah an issue. However, only the counting of votes on October 8 will reveal how much Mehbooba Mufti has benefited by showing solidarity with Hassan Nasrallah.
Hassan Nasrallah was the top leader of the Lebanon-based terrorist organization Hezbollah. He was accused of carrying out several attacks on Israel earlier also. The United Nations had declared Hassan Nasrallah a global terrorist. On Friday, Israel dropped 80 bombs on a residential area of Beirut, killing Hassan Nasrallah while he was meeting with other senior Hezbollah commanders. Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has clearly said that organizations like Hezbollah will not be allowed to escape and anyone who poses a threat to the security of the Israeli people will be killed in any corner of the world.
