Delhi: Inspection of 600 schools on complaints of fees hike, show cause notice to more than 10

The National Capital government inspected 600 private schools in Delhi after several complaints of arbitrary fees hike and issued a show cause notice to more than 10 schools.

According to a statement, the Directorate of Delhi Education (DOE) has formed district level committees to investigate private schools after arbitrary and high -increase complaints.

 

These committees headed by the sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) concerned include Deputy Director, Accounts Officer and Principal of government schools. The team has been instructed to inspect private non-aasted schools, including the complaints received by the Directorate of Education, especially mentioned schools.

 

The statement said, “So far more than 600 schools in Delhi have been inspected and this process is going on on priority basis.”

 

The Directorate of Education said that the schools found guilty for arbitrary increase fees for profiteering are being issued a show cause notice under Section 24 (3) of the Delhi School Education Act and Rules (DSEAR) 1973. It said that notices have already been issued to more than 10 such schools.

 

The Directorate of Education said that the action such as canceling recognition in serious cases and taking the school management under its control is also being considered.
