The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed the petition of Allahabad High Court Judge Yashwant Verma, requesting an invalid report of the Internal Investigation Committee. In the report, he has been convicted of misconduct in the cash recovery case.
A bench of Justice Dipankar Dutta and Justice AG Christ said that Justice Verma’s conduct is beyond confidence and their petition should not be heard.
Justice Verma had demanded the report of the inquiry committee to be invalid in the case of getting a burnt cash from his house as a judge of the Delhi High Court. Along with this, Justice Verma also challenged the recommendation sent to the President and PM to remove him from the post of Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna.
The Supreme Court dismissed this petition by Justice Verma. The court said that his petition is not eligible to consider. The Supreme Court considered the internal investigation panel and the process adopted by former CJI Sanjeev Khanna as legal and constitutional. In the last hearing, the Supreme Court had commented that when Justice Verma himself joined the process of the inquiry committee, how can they now question his legitimacy.
