New Delhi. The dates of Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly elections 2024 are going to be announced today. The Election Commission will announce the election dates of Maharashtra and Jharkhand Assembly in a press conference at 3.30 pm. Apart from this, the Election Commission can also announce by-elections on 10 assembly seats of UP. Voting for Maharashtra and Jharkhand Assembly will be conducted in November. It is believed that voting can be conducted in 2 to 3 rounds in both the states. The reason for this is that many seats in Maharashtra and Jharkhand are in Naxal affected areas and there is a need to provide very tight security during voting.
The current term of Maharashtra Assembly will end on 26 November 2024. At the same time, the current tenure of Jharkhand Assembly is till January 5, 2025. Now also know how many seats which party got in Maharashtra and Jharkhand in the year 2019 and whose government is there now. There are 288 seats in the Maharashtra Assembly and for majority it is necessary to get 145 seats. Last time in Maharashtra Assembly elections, BJP had got 105 seats. Then 56 MLAs of undivided Shiv Sena, which was with BJP, were elected. At the same time, 54 MLAs of the undivided NCP headed by Sharad Pawar had reached Maharashtra Assembly in 2019. 44 Congress MLAs, 16 from other parties and 13 independent MLAs also reached Maharashtra Assembly. Shiv Sena separated from BJP after Uddhav Thackeray claimed the post of CM. Then Uddhav Thackeray formed the government with Congress and undivided NCP. After this, 39 MLAs along with Eknath Shinde divided Shiv Sena and formed the government with BJP. There was a split in the NCP later and Ajit Pawar decided to break uncle Sharad Pawar’s party and join the BJP-Shiv Sena government.
Talking about Jharkhand Assembly, there are 81 seats here. To have majority in Jharkhand Assembly, it is necessary to have 42 MLAs. Talking about the 2019 assembly elections, 26 MLAs of Hemant Soren’s Jharkhand Mukti Morcha i.e. JMM had won. At the same time, 22 BJP MLAs also won in Jharkhand. Apart from these two parties, Congress had won 16 seats. Last time in Jharkhand Assembly elections, AJSU had won 3, JVM 2, RJD 1, CPI-ML 1, NCP 1 and 2 independents had also won. 1 MLA is nominated in the Jharkhand Assembly. Here JMM has run the government for 5 years by joining hands with other parties including Congress and RJD. This time, while JMM will try to form the government again, BJP is already creating an atmosphere to remove it from power. BJP has raised the issues of Bangladeshi infiltrators in Jharkhand and corruption during the Hemant Soren government.
