Mahua Moitra reached SC against Waqf Amendment Act

The petition argued that parliamentary practices have been violated during the law making process. The petition stated, “Procedurally, the chairman of the Joint Parliamentary Committee, in the phase of considering and adopting the draft report of the committee on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill and in the phase of the presentation of the said report before Parliament, violated the parliamentary rules and practices.”
Hearing will be held in Supreme Court on 16 April
The petition stated that the opinion of disagreement with opposition MPs was removed from the final report submitted in Parliament on February 13, 2025 without any justification. Explain that many petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court against the Waqf Amendment Bill. The Supreme Court will hear these cases on 16 April. Explain that these cases will be heard by Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna, Justice Sanjay Kumar and Justice KV Vishwanathan. On the other hand, the Muslim Personal Law Board, who is opposing the new Waqf law, has announced a long program of protests.
