New Delhi: BJP is angry over the statement given by Jammu and Kashmir National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah on Afzal Guru. BJP MP Manoj Tiwari said that Omar Abdullah’s statement is a direct challenge to the decision of the Supreme Court. The apex court should take cognizance of this.

Supreme Court should take cognizance: Manoj Tiwari

Manoj Tiwari said, “This statement of Omar Abdullah is a direct challenge to the decision of the Supreme Court. Afzal was hanged because he had planned to attack the Parliament. The terrorists were not successful in entering the Parliament but about a dozen of our security personnel were martyred. In such a situation, Omar Abdullah taking the side of a terrorist Afzal Guru is a direct challenge to the decision of the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court should take cognizance of this because these people have also been on the CM’s chair and are giving anti-national and anti-Supreme Court statements. Now in such a situation the question arises that is this the reason why Rahul Gandhi has compromised with Omar Abdullah’s party? … “

No purpose was achieved by hanging: Abdullah

In fact, Omar Abdullah has called the hanging of Afzal Guru, convicted in the Parliament attack case, wrong. In an interview to news agency ANI, he said that no purpose was achieved by hanging Afzal Guru. If we were there, we would not have approved it at all. Abdullah also said that he does not believe in the death penalty, because it raises questions on the judicial system.

Article 370 is part of National Conference’s ideology: Abdullah

In response to a question related to the restoration of Article 370, Abdullah said that Article 370 and special status to Jammu and Kashmir are part of the ideology of the National Conference. It is not something that we will surrender. He said that 370 is not the only issue on which we are fighting the elections. This is a long battle. When the BJP was reduced to two MPs in Parliament, did anyone believe that they would be in a position to do something on Article 370 and Ram Mandir? But things changed with time and it took decades to reach here.
