New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit China at the end of this month. It is believed that Modi will participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit to be held in Tianjin, China from 31 August to 1 September, 2025. It is possible that Modi’s bilateral talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping. This will be Modi’s first visit to China after a violent clash in the Galwan Valley between India and China soldiers in 2020. Modi had earlier visited China in 2019. Modi will also visit Japan before reaching China on 31 August.
Narendra Modi will attend the India-Japan annual summit with his Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida. During this time, the emphasis of the two leaders will be on increasing trade between the two countries, including the bullet train project and strengthening the mutual relations. Modi’s visit to China and Japan is considered very important amidst the tariff threats of US President Donald Trump. Chinese President Xi Jinping is also insisting on improving relations with India. In this context, there is scope for further improvement in relations between the two countries with Modi’s going to China.
Earlier, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh visited China in June. The Defense Minister attended a meeting of the Sanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Defense Ministers in the city of Kingdao, China. India’s National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval has visited Russia these days. Doval will meet Russia’s President Vladimir Putin and discuss the tariff threats of US President Trump.
