New Delhi. PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate newly constructed flats for slum residents in Delhi’s Ashok Vihar on Friday. These flats have been constructed under the in-situ slum rehabilitation project. The Prime Minister will visit Swabhiman Apartment at 12:10 pm and will later inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of various development projects at 12:45 pm.
Inauguration of 1,675 newly constructed flats
The Prime Minister will inaugurate flats prepared for 1,675 slum dwellers in Ashok Vihar. The keys of these flats will also be handed over to the eligible beneficiaries. This is the second successful in-situ slum redevelopment project of Delhi Development Authority (DDA). The cost of flat construction came to around Rs 25 lakh per flat, but the beneficiaries will have to pay only a nominal contribution of Rs 1.42 lakh and Rs 30,000 for five years of maintenance.

Naoroji Nagar and Sarojini Nagar Projects
The Prime Minister will inaugurate the World Trade Center (WTC) in Naoroji Nagar. In this project, more than 600 old quarters have been converted into state-of-the-art commercial towers. Approximately 34 lakh square feet of premium commercial space has been created. This includes green technologies like solar power generation and rain water harvesting. GPRA Type-II quarter will also be inaugurated in Sarojini Nagar. It consists of 28 towers and more than 2,500 residential units.

Education and other development projects
The Prime Minister will inaugurate the new office complex of CBSE in Dwarka. About Rs 300 crore has been spent on this. Apart from this, the foundation stone of three new projects will be laid under Delhi University. These include the new academic block in Surajmal Vihar, the new academic block of the Western Campus in Dwarka and the building of Veer Savarkar College in Roshanpura, Najafgarh. These projects being launched by the Prime Minister are a New Year gift to the residents of Delhi and will prove to be an important step in the development of the region.
