Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, who is struggling with severe floods in Punjab, announced the appointment of a gazetted officer for every village of the state on Thursday for better communication between the administration and the affected people. In the post on the social media, the CM wrote that the appointment of the gazetted officer will be able to share their problems and will be able to share their problems and proper and proper resolution.
The post stated, “To ensure direct communication between the people of the flood affected villages of the state and the administration, we are appointing a gazetted officer for each village, so that people affected by the natural disaster can share all their problems with them and provide quick and proper solutions.”
According to the state government, 37 people have died due to heavy floods in Punjab. Apart from this, about 1,655 villages have been affected in total, of which Gurdaspur is the most affected area, where 324 villages have been affected by floods, followed by Firozpur (111), Amritsar (190), Hoshiarpur (121), Kapurthala (123) and Sangrur (107). According to the government, a total of 1,75,216 hectares of agricultural land has been affected.
Earlier in the day, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) President Saurabh Bhardwaj arrived at the flood affected Ajnala village in Amritsar with relief material. While bringing the collection material, Bhardwaj said that his team is working hard and claimed that the common people are also contributing to help. Earlier, Punjab Education Minister Harbhajan Singh also visited Ajnala and provided relief materials.
