Nandigram. The foundation stone of the grand Ram temple is laid in Nandigram, West Bengal. On the festival of Ram Navami, Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly and Shubhendu Adhikari of BJP laid the foundation stone of the grand Ram temple in Nandigram. Shubhendu Adhikari defeated West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee in the election from Nandigram. The special thing is that under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee, TMC had agitated in Nandigram in 2007 to protest the land acquisition for Tata’s Nano car factory.

BJP leader and Leader of West Bengal Opposition Shubhendu Adhikari has laid the foundation stone of Ram temple in Sonchuda village of Nandigram. The foundation stone of the Nandigram Ram temple was also a large number of local people along with BJP workers. Under the leadership of Shubhendu Adhikari, slogans of Jai Shri Ram were also raised. Shubhendu Adhikari also took out a big rally in Nandigram before the foundation stone of Ram temple. BJP workers attended this rally by bike and other means. All looked painted in saffron color. On the other hand, according to the information, BJP leaders took out rallies on Ram Navami festival in many districts of West Bengal including Kolkata and Howrah. BJP state president Sukant Majumdar also attended the Ram Navami procession in Howrah.

The Ram Navami rally in Howrah, West Bengal was not approved by the police. The police had feared violence on taking out the Ram Navami procession. The organizers had approached the Calcutta High Court after not getting approval from the police. The Calcutta High Court had approved the Ram Navami procession with certain conditions. Tight security arrangements have been made in West Bengal on Ramnavami. So that no violence can happen anywhere like the past years. Mamata Banerjee’s government put the police on alert in all the districts of West Bengal including the capital Kolkata, Howrah, North 24 Parganas, Murshidabad. There was no news of any disturbance from anywhere till the news was written.
