new Delhi. There was a lot of uproar in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday over the question of whether it is possible to run a bullet train in the soil of India. Trinamool Congress Parliamentary Party leader and senior MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had a heated argument over the possibility of running a bullet train in India.
Responding to the discussion on the demands for grants under the control of the Ministry of Railways for 2022-23 under the Union Budget, the Union Railway Minister made a scathing attack on Trinamool Congress MP Nusrat Jahan and said that people who talk of mother-mati-manush should be punished. They do not have faith in their mother and soil and they are saying that the soil of India does not have the capability to run a bullet train.
As soon as the Railway Minister said this, the Trinamool Congress MPs started creating ruckus. Trinamool Congress Parliamentary Party leader Sudip Bandopadhyay, Kalyan Banerjee and MPs of many other parties also started protesting by standing up. On behalf of the ruling party, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi and many BJP MPs also stood up and started opposing the attitude of Trinamool Congress MPs.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla calmed the commotion while instructing everyone to be in dignity. After the reply of the Railway Minister, defending the statement of his party MP Nusrat Jahan, Sudip Bandopadhyay said that he has been the chairman of the Railway Committee and during that time he has deeply understood the railways of many countries of the world and India. On this basis, they believe that bullet train cannot run in India’s soil like Japan. He said that only fast speed trains can run in India and not bullet trains.
Countering the ruckus of Trinamool Congress MPs, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that it is a matter of shame that some people do not have faith in India’s soil, India’s capability and Indian engineers. He said that for how long will we be dependent on foreign countries.
There was also a debate between Sudip Bandopadhyay and Ashwini Vaishnav regarding the World Class Railway Station. Responding to the discussion, the Railway Minister dismissed the allegations of the opposition and said that no discrimination of any kind is being done against Kerala and West Bengal.
