Islamabad: A Pakistani court has banned jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi for issuing inflammatory statements against various state institutions including the army. Hearing a petition seeking a fair trial, Islamabad Accountability Court Judge Baseer Javed also said that the media should limit its reporting to the court proceedings and should not report the statements of the accused.
Imran Khan had given provocative statement
‘The Express Tribune’ reported that according to the order, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan had made provocative political statements against state institutions including the army, judiciary and the army chief. According to the court order, such statements disrupt judicial discipline and create obstruction in judicial work. The order states that during the hearing of the PTI founder, the media will limit its reporting to the court proceedings and not on the statements of the accused.

In its order, the court also said that the prosecution, the accused and their lawyers should not make any political and inflammatory statements which may disrupt court discipline. While interacting with media persons in Adiala jail, Khan had said, “Democracy rests on the supremacy of law and free and fair elections but what we saw was jungle law. Police interference in the by-elections of Punjab is very worrying.” Language
