New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday heard the petition of Rahul Gandhi in the Veera Savarkar defamation case. During this, the Supreme Court criticized Rahul Gandhi for the statement of Veer Savarkar. The court said that Rahul Gandhi should not make irresponsible statements about freedom fighters. The Supreme Court said that Mahatma Gandhi himself honored Savarkar. At the same time, his grandmother Indira Gandhi wrote a letter to him.

Supreme Court warns Rahul Gandhi

The Supreme Court warned Rahul Gandhi that you cannot give such a statement without understanding the history of freedom fighters. The court warned that if Rahul Gandhi gives such a statement from the future, we will hear automatically with cognizance. How can the freedom fighters who gave us freedom, how can you treat them. Tomorrow, you will call Mahatma Gandhi a servant of the British, because he wrote a fanful servant for Savarkar. The court has warned Congress MP Rahul Gandhi not to make such statements in future.

A bench of Justice Dipankar Dutta and Justice Manmohan also warned Rahul Gandhi not to make any such statements in the future. The bench asked senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi, appearing on behalf of the Congress leader, whether Rahul Gandhi knew that Mahatma Gandhi also used words like “your loyal servant” in his dialogue with the British.

The apex court also issued a notice to complainant Nripendra Pandey, who accused Rahul Gandhi of insulting Savarkar “deliberately” during a rally. The court has also issued a notice to the Uttar Pradesh government and sought a reply.

Court banned lower court summons

At the same time, the Supreme Court has stayed the order of the Allahabad High Court in which Congress MP Rahul Gandhi was refused to cancel the summons issued by UP a trial court in the Savarkar defamation case.
