New Delhi. Vajahat Khan, who complained to the Kolkata police against social media influencer Sharmishtha Panoli, has been given some relief by the Supreme Court at present. Supreme Court Justice KV Vishwanathan and Justice N. A bench of Kotishwar Singh has issued a notice on the petition of Vajahat Khan. A case was registered by Kolkata, Delhi, Assam, Maharashtra and Haryana Police against Vajahat Khan. Vajahat Khan is accused of making indecent remarks about Hinduism and deities. A bench of the Supreme Court said that Vajahat Khan will not be arrested in the case registered in other states besides the FIR lodged in Kolkata.
A bench of the Supreme Court found that the Golf Link Police Station of Kolkata arrested Vajahat Khan and was sent to jail after police custody. The bench of the Supreme Court has prohibited action from the states who filed a case against Vajahat Khan or from taking action on any FIR to be registered on this issue in future. In addition to the states where a case has been registered against Vajahat Khan, the Supreme Court has sought a reply till July 14. That is, at the next hearing on July 14, the Supreme Court can take a decision on continuing the relief given to Wajahat Khan.
Wajahat Khan had complained to Kolkata Police against Sharmishtha Panoli. Social media influencers were accused of making a video of indecent remarks against Prophet Mohammed. Sharmistha Panoli had already deleted the video when the controversy arose. Also, a new video was released and apologized. Even after this, Sharmistha was arrested by the Kolkata Police. Sharmishtha was granted bail several days later. At the same time, after this, there was talk of vulgar and derogatory comments about Hinduism and deities from Vajahat Khan. After which an FIR was lodged against Vajahat Khan in Delhi, Assam, Maharashtra and Haryana besides Kolkata. Vajahat Khan’s father claimed that his son could not speak anything against any religion.
