UP Teachers Recruitment: सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने 69,000 शिक्षक भर्ती मामले में इलाहाबाद हाईकोर्ट के फैसले पर लगाई रोक, अगली सुनवाई 25 सितंबर को

New Delhi. The Supreme Court on Monday put an interim stay on the decision of the Allahabad High Court in the famous 69,000 teacher recruitment case of Uttar Pradesh. The court has directed all the concerned parties to submit their written arguments, so that the matter can be finally settled during the next hearing. A bench headed by Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud said that the court will review the legal aspects of the case in detail and the next hearing will be held on September 25.

Allahabad High Court’s decision has been put on hold for now

The Supreme Court said that the decision of the Allahabad High Court will remain suspended for the time being, which has brought relief to about 19,000 teachers for the time being. These are the teachers who have been working for the last 4 years and were in fear of losing their jobs due to the decision of the High Court. The High Court had canceled the selection lists of June 2020 and January 2022 citing flaws in following the reservation rules.

Supreme Court sought written arguments

The Supreme Court has directed all the parties including the state government to submit written arguments of 7 pages each. The court also said that time is needed for a thorough review of the matter, and for this two nodal lawyers have been appointed from both the sides. The state government has also been ordered to file its written reply on this.

The Allahabad High Court had cancelled the selection lists of June 2020 and January 2022 saying that the reservation rules were not followed properly. The High Court had said that if a reserved category candidate scores marks equal to the merit of the general category, then he should be selected under the general category. The court had ordered the state government to release a new selection list within three months. This decision had put the future of thousands of teachers in the state in danger, who are afraid of losing their jobs.

Relief from Supreme Court order

This interim order of the Supreme Court has brought relief to those teachers who were in a dilemma due to the decision of the High Court. However, the court has made it clear that the final decision will be taken only after a thorough review of the legal aspects.
