The mercury dropped to 7.4 degrees Celsius in Delhi on the first morning of the New Year.

According to the Meteorological Department, there was light fog in the national capital on the first morning of the New Year and the minimum temperature was recorded at 7.4 degrees Celsius.

The Meteorological Department has predicted cold weather at different places in Delhi and dense fog at some places on Wednesday. The city’s minimum temperature was slightly warmer than the seasonal average, about two degrees lower than Tuesday.

Relative humidity was recorded at 87 percent and the maximum temperature is likely to be around 18 degrees Celsius.

The Meteorological Department said on Tuesday that the wind speed is likely to increase to 14 to 18 kilometers per hour in the afternoon and will gradually reduce to less than 8 kilometers per hour by the evening.

There is a possibility of mist or light fog during evening and night. Air quality data was not available on the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) website and the Centre’s Sameer app, which provides hourly updates on AQI levels.
