SC expresses concern over family concept

Hearing a case on Thursday, the Supreme Court said, “People in India believe in the principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, but cannot live with close relatives.” A bench of Justice Pankaj Mittal and Justice SVN Bhatti said during the hearing that the concept of the family in the country is ending and now only one person, a family system is being formed. In fact, a petition was filed by a woman in the Supreme Court. In this petition, the woman requested the court to evict her elder son from home and property.

What was the matter?

The court came to know that parents did not have good relations with their sons. The woman also accused her elder son of mentally and physical torture. In 2017, the couple started maintenance proceedings against their sons, which was registered in a family court in Sultanpur as a criminal case. However, in this case, the court ordered that children will have to pay 4 thousand rupees per month for their parents. However, the court also said in this case that there is no need for rigorous decisions like ordering to evict from part of the house.
