External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Sunday said there was no reaction from India after the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks and asserted that such an incident would not happen again.
“What happened in Mumbai should not be repeated. There was a terrorist attack there and there was no reaction,” Jaishankar told reporters in Mumbai.
“Mumbai is a symbol of anti-terrorism for India and the world,” the minister said.
Jaishankar said that when India was a member of the United Nations Security Council, he was chairing the Counter-Terrorism Committee. He said, “We held the meeting of the Anti-Terrorism Committee in the same hotel where the terrorist attack took place.”
Jaishankar said, “People know that India stands strongly against terrorism. We are leaders in fighting terrorism today. When we talk about zero tolerance against terrorism, it is clear that when someone does something , then there is bound to be a reaction.”
“We also have to expose this. It is not acceptable that you are doing business during the day and spreading terror at night and I have to pretend that everything is fine,” he said.
“India will not accept this. This is the change,” the minister said. “We will expose terrorism and wherever action is required, we will take action,” he said.
Jaishankar also said that India and China will soon resume patrolling along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh and restore order as it was in April 2020, before the border standoff began.
Jaishankar said, “We hope that patrolling in areas like Demchok and Depsang will return to the situation before October 31, 2020. This will take some time.”
