new Delhi. To enhance the capacity of the healthcare infrastructure in Delhi, the Delhi Government has launched a Portable Integrated Care Center at Ayurvedic and Unani Tibbia College, Karol Bagh. A provision of 100 beds has been made for this in Tibbia College and Hospital. This new initiative has been started in Delhi with the help of American India Foundation.
The care center was started by Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain on the occasion of the centenary celebrations of the college. Health Minister Satyendar Jain said that this hospital will prove to be very beneficial for the people living in the surrounding areas. He also said that this hospital is an example of determination and commitment of the Delhi government to fight the pandemic like COVID-19. Health Minister Satyendar Jain thanked the American India Foundation and all those who have contributed to the construction of this hospital.
The 100 bedded Portable Integrated Care Center comprises of 82 oxygen beds as well as 18 ICU beds. Along with this, the center also has its own oxygen PSA plant of 250 liters per minute (LPM). It aims to enhance the capacity of health infrastructure in Delhi’s hospitals.
Satyendra Jain said, this hospital has been established keeping in view the preparedness to deal with epidemics like COVID-19 in future. This 100-bed center was initially built to serve as a bed for COVID-19 patients. Right now the number of COVID cases in the capital is low and is currently under control, but the Delhi government has decided to keep this center open in view of the preparations for a possible corona wave.
The Delhi government wants to be fully prepared to fight any possible corona wave. This center will be run by the administration of Unani Tibbia College, so that it can be used during any future crisis. All beds are equipped with oxygen cylinders. Apart from this, ventilators have been made available for all ICU beds.
The newly constructed Integrated Care Center will be under the administration of Ayurvedic and Unani Tibbia College and Hospital, which will recruit the necessary people to make the system functional. The Delhi Government will also appoint specialists of modern medical science in the hospital from time to time.
Director of AYUSH Dr. R.K. Manchanda said that this facility will also be used as a research center for integrated research of Ayurveda and Unani in collaboration with modern medical science. The building of this hospital has been greatly supported by the American India Foundation and has also been helped by Mastercard, Bank of America and Goldman Sachs.
