Dhamtari. On the occasion of the birth anniversary of freedom struggle fighter Babu Chhotelal Srivastava of Gaurav village Kandel, various public representatives including MLA reached village Kandel and paid homage to his statue.
On the 133rd birth anniversary celebrations of freedom struggle fighter Babu Chhotelal Srivastava, the leader of the famous Canal Satyagraha of historic Gaurav Village Kandel, various public representatives including MLA Ranjana Deependra Sahu, paid their respects by garlanding his statue.
On this occasion, MLA Ranjana Deependra Sahu said that various freedom fighters of Chhattisgarh have also given their participation in the Indian freedom struggle. The contribution of Babu Chhotelal Srivastava, resident of village Kandel of Dhamtari district, in this freedom struggle is memorable.
The first Dhamtari tehsil conference was organized by him in 1918, in which Pandit Sunderlal Sharma, Pt Narayan Rao Meghawale along with Babu Chhotelal Srivastava were the directors. The main objective of this conference was the movement against the canal tax and fodder tax imposed by the British in the area. In August 1920, the British imposed a fine of Rs 4033 on the allegation of theft of canal water. At that time the Malguzar of this area was Babu Chhotelal Srivastava.
He started the movement in the form of Kandel Nahar Satyagraha for not paying this fine. Along with the Kandel Canal Satyagraha, Babu Chhotelal Srivastava, giving his participation in the non-cooperation movement, established the National School in Dhamtari in July 1921. Babu Chhotelal Srivastava along with Pt. Sunderlal Sharma and Pt. Narayan Rao Meghawale made his invaluable contribution in Sihava Nagari Jungle Satyagraha, Gattasilli Jungle Satyagraha.
When the Rudri Navagaon Jungle Satyagraha movement was about to happen, at the same time after the arrest of Pandit Sunderlal Sharma, Nathuji Jagtap, Pt Narayan Rao Meghawale, Babu Chhote Lal Srivastava himself came forward and conducted this Satyagraha and carried forward this movement.
In the same way, Babu Chhotelal Srivastava dedicated his whole life to Mother Bharti by giving his contribution in various independent struggles. Bhothali Mandal President Hemant Chandrakar said that Babu Chhotelal Srivastava awakened the spirit of freedom in this entire region and gave strength to the entire society to fight against the British rule. He is a source of inspiration for all of us.
On this occasion, Gandhi ideologue Murharam Kavarvanshi, district member Ramadhar Sahu, Poornima Banpela, Sarpanch Pushpa Milan Netam, Deputy Sarpanch Komal Sahu, Yatish Bhushan Srivastava, Virendra Sahu, Makhan Lal Yadav, Lata Sahu, Jitendra Sahu, Devi Kumari Sahu, Bisahu Ram Sahu, Vishambar Sahu, Girdhar Sarva, Makhanlal, Manju Sonwani, Gitesh Sahu, Manoj Sonwani, Hemlata Bharti, Damini Nirmalkar, Ved Vyas Sahu and all the boys, girls and villagers of the school were present.
