Shimla. Himachal Police has started preparations for the Lok Sabha elections in Himachal Pradesh. During the Lok Sabha elections, 12 thousand Himachal Police personnel and 8 thousand Home Guards personnel will take charge. Apart from this, Himachal Police has also demanded 67 companies of CAPF. Orders have been given to seal all 109 inter-state borders of the state.

1989 batch IPS officer Sanjeev Ranjan Ojha said that during the elections, special attention will be kept on illegal liquor, drug and money transactions. There will be special surveillance at airports, bus stands and railway stations. The intelligence system is also fully active. Three flying squads and three SSTs will be deployed in every parliamentary constituency. Besides this, sectors have also been created and a senior officer has been made in-charge in each sector. He said that the police is working as per the instructions of the Election Commission and a plan has also been prepared for this. Besides, a security plan has also been made. Check posts have been installed on all 109 inter-state borders and surveillance is also being done through CCTV and vigil has also been increased.
Keeping an eye on illegal liquor along with drugs and cash movement
The DGP said that necessary instructions have been given to all the SPs and other concerned officers. A meeting has also been held with the Border State SP and nodal officers have also had a meeting with the Election Commission. He said that along with drugs and cash movement, illegal liquor trade is being cracked down on and more seizure orders have been given. In drug related cases, the campaign has been intensified in Shimla, Kullu, Chamba, Sirmaur and Mandi districts. S.R. Himachal’s acting DGP S.R.Ojha also appealed to the voters.
