Kasaragod: A court in Kasaragod in Kerala on Saturday pronounced its verdict in a case related to the murder of a madrassa teacher inside a mosque in the district in 2017. The court acquitted 3 workers of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh i.e. RSS in this 7 year old case. According to reports, the decision to acquit these three accused of the murder of a madrassa teacher named Mohammad Riyas Maulvi was taken by Kasargod Principal Sessions Court Judge K. Of. Mohammad Riyas Maulvi teaches in Madrasa
Mohammad Riyas Maulvi, a 34-year-old madrassa teacher, taught in a madrassa located in nearby Churi. The Maulvi was murdered in his room in the mosque on March 20, 2017. His throat was allegedly slit by a gang that had entered the premises of Muhayuddin Juma Masjid in Churi. Police had arrested 19-year-old Nitin, 20-year-old Ajesh and 25-year-old Akhilesh in the murder of a madrasa teacher. The police registered a case against the three under sections 449 (house trespass), 302 (murder), 153A (promoting enmity on the basis of religion), 295 (desecrating a place of worship), 201 (destroying evidence) and r/w 34. The prosecution had made serious allegations
The prosecution said that the accused, who strongly believed in the ideology of Hindutva, had deep hostility towards the people of the Muslim community. The prosecution’s allegation was that these three accused had entered the Maulvi’s room in the madrasa and murdered him.
