Bengaluru. 47 girls have been admitted to the hospital after complaining of diarrhea and dehydration. Cholera has been confirmed in 2 of the girls admitted to Bengaluru Medical College and Research Institute (BMCRI). Officials gave this information on Saturday. A day before this, 47 girl students of the same institute were admitted to the hospital after complaining of diarrhea and dehydration.
Dr. Padma MR of the State Surveillance Unit under the Health and Family Welfare Department said that the samples of two girl students have been tested positive for cholera. After this incident, the Principal Secretary of the Medical Education Department and the Chairperson of the Women’s Commission inspected the hospital and hostel. According to BMCRI Director Ramesh Krishna, 47 girl students of the institute’s ‘women’s hostel’ were admitted to Victoria Hospital on Friday. All of them were suffering from diarrhea and dehydration.

BMCRI Director Ramesh Krishna gave complete information about this matter. He said, ’47 girl students of BMCRI hostel were admitted to Victoria Hospital after complaining of diarrhea and weakness. Stool samples of all the patients were sent for testing. He further said that as per the report, two girl students were found suffering from cholera.
6 cases of cholera
The Karnataka Health and Family Welfare Department had said on Friday that so far this year, 6 cases of cholera have been reported in the state, out of which 5 were reported in the month of March. Amid reports that there is a fear of cholera spread due to the scorching heat as well as water crisis, the department clarified that all these cases are sporadic. However, there was an uproar when 47 girl students were admitted to the hospital simultaneously.
