Charlotte: Once again a firing incident has created a stir in America. In North Carolina, three officers were killed when they opened fire on police officers who had come to serve a warrant for a wanted criminal. Four other people have also been injured in this firing incident. Police said that all these police officers had gone to serve a warrant for a criminal wanted on charges of possessing weapons.
One attacker was killed
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Johnny Jennings said that when US Marshals Task Force officers arrived at the suspect’s house with a warrant, they were fired upon, injuring four police officers. When other police officers arrived to save them, the second suspected attacker opened fire on them, killing three police officers. Police also killed one attacker.
‘We lost heroes’
“We lost some heroes today,” Johnny Jennings said at a news conference. A woman and a 17-year-old man were found in the home after the shooting, Jennings said. Both are being interrogated.
US Marshals Service confirmed
The US Marshals Service has confirmed in a post on social media that a Deputy US Marshal has been shot and killed during an operation to capture a fugitive criminal in Charlotte, North Carolina. Several other Marshals Service task force members and local officials have also been shot.
