Maruti Suzuki India Limited has been the country’s favorite car brand for a long time in the Indian car market. The company claims that 8 of the top 10 best-selling passenger cars in 2021 were from Maruti Suzuki. Let us tell you, the company has seen such an increase in sales for the first time in a calendar year. However, the 8 vehicles sold include WagonR, Swift, Bano, Alto 800, DZire, Vitara Brezza, Eeco and Ertiga. Let us inform that Ertiga has got the place for the first time in the top 10 best selling cars.
Interestingly, the hatchback from the company grabbed the top four positions in the list. The company’s tall boy hatchback WagonR (1.83 lakh) became the best-selling car of the year with over 1.83 lakh units sold. It was followed by Swift, Baleno and Alto800. Maruti Suzuki has sold over 1.75 lakh units of Swift, 1.72 lakh Baleno, 1.66 lakh Alto800, 1.16 lakh units of Dzire, 1.15 lakh Vitara Brezza, 1.14 lakh Eeco and over 1.14 lakh Ertiga units in 2021.
Maruti wagonR
Maruti WagonR is sold in India with a price range of between Rs 4.93 Lakh to Rs 6.45 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This compact hatchback is available in three trims LXi, VXi, and ZXi. On the other hand, the Maruti WagonR engine gets the option of two petrol engines, which include 1-litre (68PS / 90Nm) and 1.2-litre (83PS / 113Nm). Both the engines can be mated to a 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox. Notably, the WagonR also gets an optional CNG variant with a 1-litre engine, which is mated to a 5-speed MT.
Maruti Swift
With this, Maruti’s second best selling Swift has been priced between Rs 5.85 lakh and Rs 8.67 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The car is available in four trims Xi, VXi, ZXi, and ZXi+. Maruti Suzuki has equipped the 2021 Swift with a 1.2-litre DualJet petrol engine (90PS/113Nm), which is equipped with a start/stop feature for better mileage. As a gearbox, it gets the same 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox options as before.
