India strengthened its place at the top
Team India won the Dharamsala test by an innings and 64 runs.
New Delhi. India defeated England by an innings and 64 runs in the Dharamsala test match. With this, Team India won the 5-match Test series 4-1. The Indian team has also benefited from winning the series by such a big margin in the ICC World Test Championship points table. The team has further strengthened its place at the top of the WTC points table. India increased its percentage from 64.58 to 68.51 in 9 matches with an innings and 64 run win in Dharamshala on Saturday.
India won six matches, lost two and drew one match in the current WTC (WTC 2023-25) cycle. New Zealand is in second place with 60 percent marks. Despite the absence of many of its key players and losing the first Test in Hyderabad, India bounced back and registered a spectacular series win over England. The ICC said in a statement, ‘The innings and 64-run defeat in Dharamshala helped India gain 12 important WTC points, taking its tally to 74. Due to this, India’s marks percentage has increased from 64.58 to 68.51.
Players will earn more from test matches than IPL, BCCI opened the safe, Ishan, Shreyas and Chahar had ignored it.
Sri Lanka won the T20 series on the basis of Nuwan Thushara’s hat-trick, thrashed Bangladesh at home.
Australia at number three
India moved from second to first place in the WTC table earlier this week after losing to Australia by 172 runs in the first Test in Wellington, New Zealand. Australia is at third place in the table with 59.09 percent marks. Due to series loss to India, England is in eighth place with 17.5 percentage points.
India can remain on top for some days now
The cricket teams of Australia and New Zealand are currently facing each other in the second and last Test match of the series. The result of this test match being played in Christchurch will not make any difference in the points table. Team India can remain on top for some time now.
