Taking major action against drug smuggling, Parsoli police station of Chittorgarh district on Tuesday seized 944 kg of illegal opium doda powder packed in 46 bags from a Bolero pickup during the blockade on the National Highway. The value of the seized drugs has been estimated at Rs 1 crore 40 lakh.

SP Sudhir Joshi said that under the special campaign launched by the police headquarters to take action against criminals involved in crimes like smuggling of illegal drugs and illicit liquor, illegal mining and land mafia, under the direction of ASP Bhagwat Singh and DSP Begun Anjali Singh and the police station officer. Under the leadership of Parsoli Prem Singh, ASI Chandan Singh, constables Manoj, Pritam, Jitendra and Shishram from National Highway No. 27 under Parsoli police station. The road leading to Banoda was being monitored.

At around 11 pm, an unnumbered Bolero pickup came at a high speed from Banoda side, when its driver was signaled to stop, the driver and his companion left the pickup running and ran away taking advantage of the darkness of the night. When the vehicle was searched, a total of 944 kg opium powder was found in 46 plastic bags kept in it.

The said illegal opium doda powder and pickup have been seized and a case has been registered against the unknown pickup driver and his companion under the NDPS Act and further investigation is being done.
