According to a report by History Channel, the Dani tribe is found in Wamin city of Jayawijaya province of Indonesia and many people live in this tribe. Although the practice of Ichipalin was banned by the government many years ago, it is still believed that the people of this tribe follow this belief. Usually a stone blade is used to cut the upper part of the finger. In some cases, the finger is cut without a blade. People chew the finger and then tie it tightly with a rope from the middle, which stops the flow of blood. After tying the rope, when there is a lack of blood and oxygen, the finger automatically falls off. The severed finger is either buried or it is burnt.
