new Delhi. Congress general secretary Raghu Sharma has claimed that the Aam Aadmi Party is not an election challenge in Gujarat. In the state elections, this time the contest will be only between Congress and BJP. Congress general secretary and Gujarat in-charge Raghu Sharma met former party president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday regarding the strategy for the Gujarat assembly elections. During this meeting, along with Raghu Sharma, Gujarat State President Jagdish Thakor was also present.
After meeting Rahul Gandhi, Congress leader Raghu Sharma said, “Today there has been a discussion regarding the strategy for the elections to be held in Gujarat. In Gujarat, there will be a contest only between BJP and Congress. We will take out a padyatra in Gujarat on 6th April which will reach Delhi via Gujarat, Rajasthan. This padyatra will start from Sabarmati Ashram.
Regarding this meeting, Raghu Sharma said that if elections are to be held in Gujarat this year, what kind of programs are to be held in that election, what decisions have to be taken, all these subjects have been discussed with Rahul Gandhi. There is a BJP government in Gujarat for the last 27 years. He said that only Congress party has the power which can bring change in Gujarat. This time too there will be a fierce fight in Gujarat. The people of Gujarat want change, because unemployment has increased in Gujarat in 27 years and Gujarat has become a drug hub.
It is worth noting that this yatra will start from Gandhi Ashram in Gujarat on 6th April and will reach Delhi in 60 days after covering a distance of 1200 kms. The yatra has been named ‘Azadi Gaurav Yatra’ and will involve 75 pedestrians. According to the information, April 6 has been specially fixed for this journey. On this day in 1919 Mahatma Gandhi started the protest against Rowlatt Act and his Dandi Yatra also ended on this day. On the other hand, the second journey will start on April 17 and will run till May 27. This yatra will start from Champaran in Bihar and will run till Beliaghat in West Bengal on 27th May. The journey will be of 40 days and will cover a distance of 800 kms by 75 pedestrians. Mahatma Gandhi had fasted for communal harmony in Beliaghata.
