A Delhi court on Thursday extended the judicial custody of AAP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia till April 26 in a money laundering case related to the liquor policy scam. After judicial custody ended, Sisodia was produced before Rouse Avenue Court Judge Kaveri Baweja. The court extended the judicial custody of Sisodia. On Monday, the court had said that it will continue the hearing on the bail application of the AAP leader on April 20. That day the court heard the arguments of both the sides.
The bail petition has been filed on behalf of Sisodia by his lawyer Mohit Mathur, alleging delay in completing the investigation of the case. It was claimed that no evidence had been found linking his client to the bribe money. He argued that there was no loss to the government exchequer or private consumers. Mathur also stressed on the delay in the trial and said that the Supreme Court order allowing Sisodia to approach the lower court is six months old and the investigation should have been completed by now.
Mathur had further said that as per the guidelines of the Supreme Court, Sisodia is fulfilling all the necessary conditions for bail. Earlier, the CBI counsel had told the court that the investigation was at a crucial stage and releasing Sisodia on bail could hamper the investigation.
