Lucknow . Sunni cleric Maulana Khalid Rashid Farangi Mahali of Islamic Center of India has issued an advisory for Muslims in view of Shab-e-Barat, Juma (Friday) and Holi falling on the same day. Urging Muslims to exercise caution during the day, they have been advised to offer Friday prayers in their neighborhood mosques only.
He urged Muslims to visit graveyards only after 5 pm as part of the Shab-e-Barat ritual.
The cleric said that four years ago, a similar situation happened when Holi and Shab-e-Barat were on the same day. We maintained peace and harmony on that day as well and will continue to do so this year while respecting all religions and sentiments.
In the advisory, mosques have been asked to postpone the Juma (Friday) prayer timings by half an hour in those places where the prayer timings are between 12:30 pm and 1 pm.
Maulana Khalid Rashid said that people visit the graves of their ancestors on Shab-e-Barat to pray for the peace of their souls. They should do this only after 5 pm this year as Holi will be celebrated throughout the day. Namaz at Juma Masjid Idgah will be held at 2 pm instead of 12.45 pm.
