The war between Israel and Hamas continues. The humanitarian crisis in Gaza has deepened due to the military action being taken by Israel in response to the terrorist attack and now Israel is preparing for major action in Rafah as well. Meanwhile, United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres has given a big message by standing near the long queue of trucks waiting to go to Gaza. On Saturday, Guterres said it was time to deliver greater amounts of life-saving aid to Gaza. He has also urged for an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. The UN Secretary General said this on the Egyptian border near Rafah city of Gaza.
This is Israel’s plan
It is noteworthy that, despite all the warnings, Israel is working on a plan to launch a ground attack in Rafah. More than half of Gaza’s population has taken refuge there. Guterres said any further attacks would make the situation worse. He said the situation would not only get worse for Palestinian civilians, but also for the hostages and all people in the region. He said this a day after the United Nations Security Council failed to reach consensus on a US-sponsored resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire. Guterres repeatedly underlined the difficulties in delivering aid to Gaza, for which international relief agencies are blaming Israel. “We are seeing despair, long queues of trucks stalled on one side of the border and starvation on the other side,” he said.
Trucks waiting to go to Gaza
Meanwhile, the governor of Egypt’s North Sinai province, Abdel Fadil Shousha, said in a statement that about seven thousand trucks were waiting to enter Gaza from Egypt. Guterres said Israel should show its strong commitment by ensuring access of humanitarian goods to Gaza. He said that in the spirit of compassion of Ramzan, all the hostages should be released immediately. He told journalists that a humanitarian ceasefire and the release of hostages should happen simultaneously. Asked about Guterres’ comments, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office cited a social media post by Foreign Minister Israel Katz, who accused the UN chief of allowing the world body to become “anti-Zionist and anti-Israel.” Was applied.
Hamas terrorists had attacked
It is noteworthy that on October 7, Hamas terrorists had attacked southern Israel in which about 1,200 people were killed and 250 people were abducted. The health ministry in Gaza put the death toll in the area at around 32,000. After this terrorist attack, the war between Israel and Hamas continues. (AP)
