After Shiv Sena, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has also refused to form an alliance with Asaduddin Owaisi’s All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM). NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Sunday said that his party is not inclined to forge an alliance with the AIMIM. Pawar’s statement came a day after AIMIM MP Imtiyaz Jaleel offered to tie up with the Shiv Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA).
Shiv Sena chief and Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has already ruled out an alliance with AIMIM. “I am reading this (Jalil’s) statement, but I want to make it clear that it is not our party’s stand (to tie up with Asaduddin Owaisi’s party),” Pawar told reporters at Baramati in Pune district. ‘ “They (AIMIM) can talk about alliances, but the political parties they are talking about should first accept such proposals,” the former Union minister said.
Pawar said though the AIMIM has offered tie-ups at the state level, forming such an alliance would require the approval of the National Committee of Political Parties. At another event, the NCP chief spoke about a possible meeting with officials for another airport in Pune. However, the location of the new airport is yet to be finalised.
