Political agitation seems to be increasing to make Asaduddin Owaisi’s party AIMIM a partner in the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra. Let us inform that after Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s decision to include AIMIM in the Maha Vikas Aghadi government, now NCP chief Sharad Pawar has also refused to join hands with All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen in Maharashtra.
Sharad Pawar has said in this regard that he is not in favor of such an alliance. In fact, on Saturday, AIMIM MP Imtiaz Jaleel created a stir in the political circles of Maharashtra with one of his statements. He had said that his party was ready to partner in the ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance led by Shiv Sena to stop the BJP from coming to power.
Regarding this offer, Sharad Pawar told India Today, “I am aware of such statements but I want to make it clear that this is not the decision of our party.” Pawar said a variety of considerations come into play in forming an alliance with any political organisation. He said that such decisions are taken by the state parties only after consulting the national committee.
He said that the NCP, Shiv Sena and Congress are part of the ruling coalition in the Maharashtra government. So it should also take into account the views of its current allies on expanding the alliance.
Pawar said, “Such statements may be coming from the AIMIM side but it has to be seen whether other MVA parties are ready for such an alliance or not? If one can make such a proposal for a state-level alliance, then the NCP as a political alliance partner does not allow any of the three political parties to take such a decision.”
Let us tell you that earlier Uddhav Thackeray had said that Shiv Sena will never forge an alliance with AIMIM. This is BJP’s ‘B’ team. He said that BJP is using Hindutva only for political gains.
What Imtiaz Jaleel had to say: Regarding joining the MVA, AIMIM spokesperson Imtiaz Jaleel had told the Indian Express on Saturday that we are ready to tie up with the MVA government. So that communal ideology can keep BJP away from power. He said that we want all non-BJP parties to fight elections together and keep BJP out of power.
Jaleel had said that MVA is currently a three-wheeled vehicle. If one more wheel (AIMIM) is added to it, then it will get stronger. Jaleel told that he has made this offer through Rajesh Tope, a minister in the MVA government. Tope came to my house after my mother’s death. He had said that Congress-NCP is suffering because of AIMIM. After this Jalil told Tope that we are ready to come with him to keep BJP out of power.
Significantly, before Uddhav Thackeray, Shiv Sena spokesperson Sanjay Raut had also said that there is no place for the fourth party in Maha Vikas Aghadi.
