Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai said in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday that after the abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution, a total of 34 people from outside in Jammu and Kashmir have bought properties in the Union Territory. Rai made the remarks while replying to a question by Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Haji Fazlur Rehman.
The BSP leader was asked whether the Home Minister would be pleased to tell the number of people from outside in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir (UT) who have bought property in the UT after the abrogation of Article 370? In a written reply to this question, the Union Minister of State for Home said that 34 persons have so far purchased properties in the UT.
Minister Rai said, “As per the information given by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, 34 persons from outside Jammu and Kashmir have purchased property in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370.”
On the question of the areas where these properties have been bought, the Minister of State for Home said, “These properties are in Jammu, Reasi, Udhampur and Ganderbal districts.”
After the abrogation of Article 370, the central government changed the laws for the purchase of land and properties in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh and after that new land purchase laws were made.
