A crew member of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), who was caught smuggling foreign currency at the international airport in Pakistan’s Punjab province, has been sent to judicial custody. ‘Dawn News’ reported on Monday that customs officials produced the accused female employee before a magistrate on Saturday and sought her custody.
A large amount of Saudi Riyal seized
According to the report, the crew member was detained on Friday when a large amount of Saudi Riyal was recovered from her socks during a search. A video has also gone viral on social media in which the accused crew member is seen taking out Saudi Riyal. An FIR has been registered against the flight attendant on the complaint of customs officials who stopped the suspect while boarding PIA flight PK-203 from Lahore to Dubai.
The officers had received a secret information
Raja Bilal Naseem, a customs official at Allama Iqbal International Airport, said that during the search, 1,40,000 Saudi Riyals (about Rs 1 crore) were recovered from the possession of the accused. He said that the customs officials had received secret information about an attempt to smuggle currency through this flight.
