New Delhi. An administrative order in Muzaffarnagar has ordered shopkeepers on the Kanwar route to display their name and identity, which has created a lot of controversy. The opposition has termed this directive as tyrannical and compared it to Nazi Germany. However, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has made it clear that he will not bow down to the pressure of the opposition. Instead of withdrawing the order, CM Yogi has issued a new directive, stating that all food vendors on the Kanwar route across the state will have to put up their name plates.
Reason behind the decision
The UP government has made it mandatory that shopkeepers on all Kanwar routes must display their name and identity in front of their food stalls. The move is aimed at maintaining the sanctity and purity of the Kanwar Yatra. Additionally, the UP government has warned that action will be taken against those selling halal-certified products.

According to the instructions, food vendors on all Kanwar routes in Uttar Pradesh will have to install nameplates displaying the name and identification of the owner. This decision has been taken to respect the sentiments of Kanwar pilgrims.
Kanwar Yatra begins on 22 July
The month of Sawan is starting from 22nd July, with which the Kanwar Yatra is also starting. The government and the administration are making massive preparations for the pilgrimage. The administration says that the purpose of this decision is to prevent any kind of confusion among the pilgrims, avoid allegations and counter-allegations and maintain law and order.
