America has warned India, which is buying oil from Russia at cheap prices. The US has said that the continuous purchase of oil from Russia may cost New Delhi as the US is preparing to impose tough economic sanctions against Russia. In the sanctions that the US has imposed on Russia, it has not put any restriction on other countries from buying oil from Russia. It is being said that America is now preparing to impose tough economic sanctions against Russia. This is because some countries including India are buying more crude oil from Russia than usual because Russia is selling oil at a cheaper price.
This statement of the US official has come at a time when the Foreign Minister of Russia is in Delhi on a two-day visit to India after China. India is the third largest oil importing country in the world. This is the reason why Russia’s eyes are on India, which has been continuously buying crude oil from Russia on a large scale since the war against Ukraine. Many countries have imposed economic sanctions on Russia, after which they have stopped taking oil from Russia. This is the reason that Russia is now selling crude oil to India at throwaway prices. India is also buying oil from Russia indiscriminately.
According to the report, India has bought 13 million barrels of oil from Russia since the Russo-Ukraine war that began on February 24. In the last full year, India bought 16 million barrels of oil from Russia, but due to huge discounts, India is buying a lot of oil from Russia. America is keeping a close eye on this deal. The US says that it has no objection to India buying oil from Russia. America’s objection is that India should not buy more oil from Russia than it needs. The US State Department spokesperson had also said in the past that he is keeping an eye on the increasing trade of crude oil between Russia and India. He had said that he is talking with his allies including India to stop the war in Ukraine.
