US Forces Destroyed Drones: US military forces have destroyed a drone over Houthi rebel-held territory in war-torn Yemen and another drone over a vital waterway in the Red Sea. This information has been given by the American Army. This is the latest incident to happen amid rising tensions between Iran-backed rebels and the US for several months. The Houthi rebels had already warned to target all ships sailing through the Red Sea bound for Israel.
Drones were a threat
US Central Command (CENTCOM) said on Sunday that the drones destroyed on Saturday morning were a threat to US and coalition forces in the area, as well as commercial vessels. Centcom said one drone was destroyed over the Red Sea, while the other drone was destroyed on the ground while it was being prepared for takeoff.
Houthi rebels did not comment
“These actions are necessary to ensure the safety of our forces and freedom of navigation, and to make international waters safer for U.S., coalition, and commercial vessels,” CENTCOM said. The Houthi rebels had no comment on the matter. Is of. These rebels control much of the north and west of Yemen.
America took action earlier also
This is not the first time that America has taken such action. Earlier on March 27, the US Central Command destroyed four long-range missiles launched by Houthi rebels in Yemen. Earlier in November 2023, the Houthis had carried out drone and missile attacks on ships in the Red Sea during Israel’s ongoing war against Hamas. (AP)
